Rabbit Anatomy - Muscular System Wild rabbits are very athletic animals that are built to move rapidly in order to find food, water, find or fight mates, or flee predators over greater distances to find a hiding place. This daily exercise strengthens the locomotive muscles, fortifies the muscles in their heart and lungs and increases The spinal nerves in rabbit are 37 pairs which can be divided into five zones, viz., 8 pairs cervical, 12 pairs thoracic, 7 pairs lumbar, 4 pairs sacral and 6 pairs caudal nerves. Each arises from the cord by two roots- dorsal and ventral. The sensory nerve fibres are found in the dorsal root and motor nerve fibres are found in the ventral root. The goals of this project were to determine if the rabbit is a good model for muscle anatomy education, as well as to create a compilation of images of the muscular system of a rabbit to aid future students with muscular identification and study.
