I was in my evolution class this morning when my professor told us that mitochondria and plastids started out as bacteria that was engulfed by plant and animal cells, and from then till now the cells and bacteria have had a sort of symbiotic relationship. We already have mitochondria in our cells, but would it also be possible to somehow place a plastid in our own cells to use sunlight for energy as plants do?
